They've hit. I hate them. And every year, I know they're coming. I always say I'm prepared, but I never am. If you're out and about and driving around town, feel free to stop by and just say hi. No pressure to buy anything. I even have some super delish instant cappuccino you can whip up (English Toffee, Banana Nut, White Choco Caramel!) and sit a spell.

Remember, in this holiday season and everyday, please support your local independent merchants. I know, I know, it costs more to shop independent, we don't have the buying power. Sometimes, the 5-20% extra sounds like a lot more to spend. (And sometimes it isn't, that's only 80-c a pack of stickers, maybe $2 for adhesive.) But know you're directly helping a real-life person and not a corporation. Your funds go directly to the small merchant and their business. The small merchant doesn't have a corporate umbrella keeping them alive. It IS worth the extra money to shop small and shop local. You should get better customer service, far better selection and knowledgeable staff. Sure, we might not have it all, we simply can't, but check with us first. If you're not in a hurry, have us order it for you. Please, Please, Please help keep our shops open. We're facing extinction at the hands of our customers supporting the big box stores like Michaels, JoAnn, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Target etc. I don't make this plea for support in vain or alone, please visit all of your 40+ local stores for your papercrafting needs.

And if you haven't been in for a long time you must come check out the shop. While it may be small in square footage, it is jampacked in crafty goodness. Over 900 papers in the main store alone! I've learned a very hard lesson that life is short and looking for photos for my memorial DVD to my dad, I learned my albums mean the world to me. My resolution for 2011 is to get the heck caught up on my toddlers' books so I can move backwards and get all these photos out of boxes. They get no justice sitting in the dark, in a box, all alone. They need to be celebrated, enjoyed and shared. Come on in and we can help set you on a path.

Crops!!! Classes!!!

Our crop schedule is pretty easy! Almost every Friday night 6-12 $5 or free w/$12 purchase. Daily drop-in is available too at $5 or free w/$12 purchase. You can also buy a Crop Card for $20 which has five crops or an unlimited monthly crop card (price still to be determined). And last but not least the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of every month will be all-day from 9 or 10 am until the last cropper leaves - those are $10 or free w/$20 purchase. As always, please call to see if we have space :)

Come and learn the wonderful uses and techniques of Copic Markers with Certified Copic instructor Shari Albrecht. Shop Hop Madness

Shop Hop week one is about to end and I must say it's been sheer madness. Totally fun, chaotic and nuts and I've loved EVERY minute of it. To say it was difficult to move to a new shop and have it open and ready for a megaton of customers in less than a month would be complete and total understatement.

We have gotten some great input and feedback from all our customers whom I love dearly. I feel as though I've made the right decision and haven't regretted it yet. OK, well maybe when I received the almost $200 power bill when I'm used to a $65 one! Otherwise it's been heavenly. If you haven't stopped by yet, please do so :)

Crop nights are better, our class calendar will be set in the fall and we have a ton of 2-page layout kits ready for the making for those who just want to put it together and be done and have a GORGEOUS album. Come see the wall of kits!

I was supposed to be going to a retreat this weekend but we didn't get our payments in on time and it sold out so we are retreating here, to Perfect Day. Friday, Saturday & Sunday. $10 per day - we're full on Friday. Leave your stuff, come and go, good times to be had. I have about 27 pages to get done by Sunday!

We're now open 10-6 T-Sa and 12-6 on Mondays. During the Shop Hop (8/6-8/22) we are open EVERY DAY 10-7 - excluding 8/10, my son turns 3, we close at 6 and on 8/15 we close at 2. If you haven't done the Shop Hop - I very highly recommend it and I'm not even telling you that to sell you a passport. It is so much fun and the prizes are phenomenal! We have 4 passports left and with each one purchased you get a drawing entry for a store gift certificate! Refer a friend, get another one - woohoo!

We Moved!

YAY! Our new address is 9608 Hamilton Ave, Huntington Beach. We are next to Jokers Skate Shop. It's pretty chaotic inside, but come see!

Tons of new Bo Bunny has arrived including: Petal Pushers, Peacock Lane, Block Party and Sun Kissed. Some embellies have already sold out but still flowers, buttons, stamps, stickers. We also have Sweet Summertime by Echo Park, Breathless by Marah Johnson (very goth, twilight-y), Cowgirl/Cowboy by Samantha Walker, Surf/Beach glitter collection from Best Creation, and lots of Little Yellow Bicycle on the way.

We have a few Shop Hop passports left! Be sure to get in on the action. For every passport you purchase you will be entered into a $15 store credit drawing :)

We will be closed Friday July 2, Saturday July 3 and Monday July 5. Our hours are now 10-7 for the summer, 12-7 on Mondays, closed on Sundays. Friday night crops will resume on July 9, 6:30 to midnight.

So Many New Things & Memorial Day Hours

First off - let's get the holiday hours and vacation schedule out in the open! We will be closed on Monday May 31. That's a big family day filled with BBQs galore and every now and again I need family time :)

Vacation: Friday June 4, closing at 4 pm. Saturday June 5 - Monday June 14, closed. Hopefully, that next week we will make it home from Colorado and be open and.... MOVING! The store is relocating across the parking lot between Jokers Skate Shop and the shoe repair - yay!!!

What this means... a minimum of 8 permanent crop spots and probably 12 class spots! Which also means that YES! A more steady schedule of classes with better dates and times will be going on at Perfect Day! Finally. And the best bonus after getting permaspots, our own bathroom.

As for new stuff, we have tons of new stuff that just arrived from Creative Imaginations, Echo Park, Best Creation, Reminisce, Fancy Pants, Little Yellow Bicycle and arriving June 1 is the msot amazing summer collection from Bo Bunny. Check us out on Facebook and look in the "Whats New" album under the photos tab. A lot, but not all, has been posted there.

Ribbon Purses & Vacation Hours

I was finally able to pick up some paper racks and after hours of reorganizing and moving papers (you should see the papercuts!) the new wall of paper is up and beautiful. JD's Injuries & New Hours

JD has had two injuries in two weeks - the second requiring an ER trip and almost stitches! This just is not the environment for him until he gets a bit older. I have to put his safety first and change my hours. Since foot traffic is so slow during the weekday, we will not be open too much during the day. Afterall, most stores close around 6 or 7 and that doesn't allow the working woman / mom a chance to shop. New hours:

MOVING!!!

We are moving out of Debra's Cottage and into our own storefront! Most items have been moved out already with some remaining (kits and albums still there) paper and stickers. The new store will be OPEN by November 14. Our grand opening celebration is Saturday November 15.

Friday nights are devoted to cropping! Almost every Friday night come crop with us until midnight! Later if we just can't put down the layout and leave. We will also have weekdays, drop-in cropping and a couple weekends. A class schedule is in progress with our first class right after Thanksgiving so get those pictures printed quickly!

As of November 30, we will no longer be at Debra's Cottage. The new address is 9600 Hamilton Street #A, Huntington Beach, CA. We are located centrally on Hamilton between Magnolia and Brookhurst, in the 7-11 strip mall. If you see the lights on, day or night, feel free to stop by and say hi!

First Things First...

Our shop size has been reduced because my sweet 1-year old has refused to take his naps and keeps me going from wake up to bedtime and then I'm exhausted. And some other reasons but let's just stick with that ;-) Almost everything is listed on eBay; there is a link below. I offer free pickup and sometimes can accommodate local delivery too! So if you ever need anything, just let me know. The shop will stay pretty current and right now has Sea World, Beachy, Patriotic, Summer, Pirate Princess & Captain Jack, Old Guys Rule, Christmas, Halloween and a few others mixed in.

I've also started the online store; www.perfectdayscrapbooking.com; only one item has been added because I had to work out a ton of kinks w/the s/h. Soon I will get to stocking it. Why Perfect Day? It is a lovely song w/a storied past and the meaning behind it all but we all take things how we want. My favorite singer in the whole wide world - Jack Grisham (TSOL) recorded it and it's just freakin' heavenly. If we were to get married again, it would be our song. In fact, it is our song. We're weird! It's on my personal My Space if you'd like to hear his version.

My First CHA and Some New Stuff

Holy crap that is tiring! We walked for hours. And hours. And hours. And we have more walking to do on Thursday! 6 hours of shopping, multiple thousands of dollars later and I think I am going to have some absolutely FABULOUS new products in the next few months! Samples of one of the to-die-for must-have collections by the best Marah Johnson:

Finally! Some new tools! A RETRACTABLE cutting knife, a self-healing mat, a flexible ruler (amazing!) and a neat little sanding block thing for edges and stuff. The best part? They're PINK! Get on the list now or pre-order for their arrival due sometime this spring:

Also! My lovely instructor accompanied me today and we/she picked out some really fantastic items for fun class projects! We will have an extremely limited 6-seat class, to be announced - it's a chipboard diecut BEACH album! Using a completely different line than shown above! (I'm way too tired to break out the camera card and stuff.)

Our next crop day will be Saturday February 23rd from 12pm - 6pm.

Cost will be $5 and includes a bonus, Cricut use, snacks and a 10% discount on all scrapbooking supplies from me (vendor #14).

Expo tickets are here now and ready to be purchased! They are just $6.00!

We also got in some neat new products from Around The Block and Creative Imaginations! Markdowns have occurred and products have been put in the clearance bucket. I just put a ton of 12x12 paper in the 50-cent bin too.

Saturday January 26th, 2008 from 2-6 pm is our first ever Crop! It is just $5 and includes 5 sheets of 50-c paper. I will have a Cricut available for no extra charge (you supply the paper) as well as the CM cutting system with lots of shapes as well as random scissors, punches, etc. Hope to see you there!

Scrapbook Expo Tickets!!!

Scraptastick will be selling discounted tickets to the Scrapbook Expo in Costa Mesa this February 15-17, 2008. It will be held at the OC Fairgrounds. Skip the lines and hassle and pick them up early AND save $2.00 per ticket! Come and buy your tickets early and grab some new paper and stickers and stuff!
